About the Position: Serve as an Electronics Technician with the Davidson Army Airfield Division. Provides comprehensive technical services on substantive functions and practices. Identifies, evaluates, and recommends appropriate solutions to resolve complex interrelated problems. Manages digital Air Traffic Control (ATC) equipment; performs on-site independent repair analysis, installation, evaluation, and maintains, evaluates, and procures complex electronic computer systems in the ATC field.

Duties

Perform on-site independent repair analysis, installation, evaluation, and certification, in accordance with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards, of a variety of complex electronic systems and sub-systems. Manage all of the latest digital ATC equipment available thru tests, inspections and repair of equipment to ensure operational effectiveness for air traffic control usage in the National Airspace System. Repair and replaces parts and components; tunes, adjusts, and aligns systems and subsystems; and repairs or replaces parts and individual components. Verify correct range, azimuth of radar data, video map, and data presentation; measures the radiated output of antenna and tuning systems; tests and inspects repaired equipment to ensure operational effectiveness for air traffic control. Maintain, some of the most complex electronic/computer systems in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) field, which often is research-grade, experimental, and prototype in nature. Analyze the performance of systems by way of periodic flight inspections, establishment and monitoring of ground checkpoints, and performance of recurring alignments.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Pre-employment physical and annual physicals while in position.
  • Must be able to maintain a valid State issued driver’s license.
  • This position is a critical position IAW AR 600-85, 5-14 and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. It is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R and pass a urinalysis testing prior to appointment and periodically after.

  • This is an Inclement Weather position. Incumbent may be required to report or remain on duty during inclement weather. (See the Additional Information section for more information)
  • May be required to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • You may be required to fly in aircraft and climb towers to perform work. Required to travel to other facilities and installations for training or to solve problems associated with electronic systems.
