About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the US ARMY INTELLIGENCE AND SECURITY CMD MISSION SUPPORT COMMAND/ACOFS, G-6 FORT BELVOIR, VA

Duties

Serves as Electronics Technician/VI Specialist within the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM), Assistant Chief of Staff, G-6, involved in the performance of duties requiring the application/validation of engineering functions. Oversees engineering and installation of video-telecommunications (VTC) equipment and infrastructure in support of the organization's worldwide implementation of VTC systems. Provides technical assistance for the installation of VI equipment. Assists during the installation and testing stages of expansion/upgrade of HQ INSCOM VI/VTC systems and infrastructures.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance based on SSBI and eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • TDY travel will be required 10% of the time.
  • All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11).
