The primary purpose of the Visual Arts and Information Specialist is to support live events, performances, presentations, and a wide variety of technologies based on program requirements.  

Duties

The standard working hours for this position are from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Wednesday through Sunday, with Mondays and Tuesdays designated as off days.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-1001-11. For this position, candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-9 level in the Federal service, supporting live events, performances, archival celluloid film and digital cinema presentations and a wide variety of technologies based on program requirements for a major organization or large institution. If asked to do so, cite specific examples of employment or experience contained in your resume and describe how this experience has prepared you to successfully perform the duties of this position. DO NOT write "see resume" in your application! Those applicants who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be evaluated against these factors to determine the best-qualified candidates. 1. Comprehensive understanding of the best practices for equipment and technical operations for live event productions particularly regarding film and video presentations, lectures and musical performances in a large auditorium setting.  2. Advanced knowledge and experience with operation of film projection (35mm and 16mm) and archival film handling, inspection, presentation, and reporting. Identification of celluloid film types, formats, supporting technologies new and old, for foreign and domestic releases spanning the history of film.  3. Operation and configuration of live event AV systems and media playback equipment including solid state media players, DCP, DVD/Blu-Ray, HDCam, Beta SP, Digibeta, audio mixing consoles, matrix switchers, AV patch-bays, PA systems, AV signal routing, switching and conversion devices, and podium technologies.  Other Relevant Eligibility Criteria:  Experience and certification in leading AV technologies such as: -  Avixa Certified Technology Specialist Certifications (CTS)-  Crestron, AMX control systems-  Digital audio technologies (Audianet, BiAmp, QSC, Dante, CobraNet, BSS)-  Digital Projection certifications (Christie, Barco)-  AV over IP technologies such as NDI Note: Applicants who are referred to the hiring office for selection consideration may be required to submit writing and/or work samples as part of the interview/selection process.
