About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Public Works, Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville.
This is a developmental position, GS-09, FPL GS-10. Management may select at either grade level.
Duties
Participate in pre-bid and pre-construction conferences with representatives from other organizations.
Perform as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) to accept and approve changes to the plans.
Work with contractor or engineer as necessary to develop new or modified work techniques.
Administer the construction warranty program for each completed contract.
Complete technical inspections of construction projects at all stages.
Attend pre-design conferences.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Applicant will be required to successfully complete Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) training IAW DoDI 5000.72.
- This position requires a valid, State-issued motor vehicle driver's license.
- A pre-employment physical is required; and additional follow-up physical exams are required.
- Position may be required to lift approximately 40 Ibs.

Specialized Experience GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Interpreting drawings and specifications; 2) Inspecting construction materials and workmanship and 3) Ensuring safety requirements are being followed. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Specialized Experience GS-10: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Reviewing drawings and specifications prior to contract; 2) Advising the contractor of contract provisions such as project schedule; safety requirements; use of Government furnished material, equipment or utilities; proper disposition of waste; and 3) Investigating all construction phases to insure compliance with contract schedules. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
