Salary: $36 - 42 per hour

You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Leader in the Utilities Department, San Clemente Island Division of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will explain procedures, policies, written instructions, or other directives to others performing maintenance work. You will interpret instructions (e.g. building plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, maintenance, repair manuals) to determine materials, tools, and equipment needed for projects. You will review potable water cross connection program requirements to identify discrepancies and code violations You will diagnose, repair, and maintain water treatment plant equipment to regulate water and sewer flow You will coordinate maintenance work assignments among staff to maintain work progress and meet schedules.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You may be required to work rotating shifts.
  • You must have or be able to obtain a California driver's license to operate vehicles up to and including a five-ton truck.
  • You will be subject to recall 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION.
