You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will install, repair, maintain troubleshoot, test and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
You will connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
You will plan, layout and complete the installation, modification and repair of systems.
You will Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
You will utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is entitled to a remote site-offshore allowance up to $10.00 a day and may not to exceed $10.00 a day in addition to pay otherwise due to the employee. (See 5 U.S.C. 5942 and 5 C.F.R. 591 Subpart C).
Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Performing maintenance and minor repairs to pipes and plumbing, wiring and electrical fixtures/equipment, and mechanical equipment; 2) Removing/replacing wiring, switches, and/or fuses; and 3) Assisting with sealing small sections of piping/plumbing systems, such as traps, drains, and piping.
