Duties

You will inspect boilers and chillers of various sizes for condition, maintenance, repair, and replacement. You will utilize maintenance records, machinery history, and routine/emergency breakdown reports to determine whether the system equipment has reached its service life. You will check heating plants and other operating equipment in satellite buildings and machine rooms. You will monitor contracts, coordinates repairs and inspects repair/replacement projects any of which may have environmental or industrial safety impacts. You will note and make changes as equipment installed, moved, removed, deleted or information changes.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Emergency overtime may be required.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to perform common tasks including inspecting the maintenance, quality assurance and repair of high-temperature water/steam boilers, generators, air compressors, chillers, plumbing, water/wastewater and gas utility systems including all related utility equipment and systems.
