Duties

As a Security Officer, GS-0080-12, you will be the Wing Commander's principal advisor in all law enforcement and physical security matters. Serve as the Wing AT /FP (Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection) Officer. Plan, schedule, control, and direct all unit functions. Perform a variety of DFC (Defense Force Commander) and supervisory functions to include assigning work to subordinates (dual and non-dual status, Active Guard Reserve (AGR), and traditional drill status members) by selective criteria such as the difficulty of the assignment, capabilities of the employee, or present work load assigned to each employee. Serve as the highest technical authority in regards to security for the wing. Perform other duties as assigned.

APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: All Series GS-0080 personnel must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level. Each applicant must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career level, as cited on page two. Applicants must have the experiences, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Applicants must demonstrate the ability or have endorsements that indicate the ability to learn and perform the cited position's duties. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have 36 months experience in managing and directing assigned program areas, conducting studies and reviews; and, writing, publishing and implementing force protection policies and projects. Knowledgeable in security program specialties to include physical, personnel, and operational security. Experienced in correctly identifying and resolving conflicting and complex policy and program objectives, and procedures within the security functional area. Experienced in the specialized field of force protection and anti-terrorism, and physical and operations security MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS Series GS-0080 applicants must have the capacity to perform essential functions and operations without risk to themselves or others. Must have normal color vision; and, must meet the military physical demand ratings for lifting and standing work. Must physically qualify in compliance with Department of Defense, along with the Department of the Army- or- Department of the Air Force medical standards, as required/specified by the applicable Army or Air Force military skill medical requirements. OTHER QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Dependent on the authorized full-time position's organizational location and its required compatible manpower directed military skill assignment, applicant must have a current Single Scope Background Investigation according to Army or Air Force Personnel Security Program Management Directives; or, must possess or be able to obtain a National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit (NACLC) according to applicable DoD Instructions, Army or Air Force regulations, upon appointment. 1. The applicant must possess or be able to obtain the proper clearance type and level within one year of appointment. 2. Must possess a valid state driver's license to operate government motor vehicles, for the state in which they live or are principally employed, in accordance with Army and Air Force Vehicle Operations Directives. 3. Must be approved to operate government motor vehicles and vehicular equipment according to Army or Air Force Vehicle Operations Directives. 4. Must not have any disciplinary action (Article 15 or Court-Martial) for engaging in an unprofessional or inappropriate relationship as defined in applicable DoD Instructions concerning Army and Air Force Professional and Unprofessional Relationships. 5. No record of claustrophobia or claustrophobic tendencies. 6. Prior to appointment, an applicant's military medical record must indicate a completed and current medical physical, medical profile, and drug test. 7. To maintain the position - The incumbent must have a current Network License according to Army or Air Force Directives, Licensing Network Users and Certifying Network Professionals. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled. Education

Air National Guard Officer: An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is MANDATORY. The college degree work should include completed academic courses in sociology, criminology, police administration, criminal justice, or a related area. A graduate degree from an accredited civilian academic college or from an equivalent professional military education school is optimum.
