Duties
As a SUPV IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK), GS-2210-12, you will Directs the planning, engineering, testing, evaluation, modification, security and reporting of the full range of C-E (Communications-Electronics) equipment and systems assigned. Ensure the proper use, management, and training of all supervised personnel, consisting of multiple technical disciplines. Consult with users and managers to determine specific locations and requirements for the particular system installation. Interview and recommend selection of new employees. Plan, develop, and implement local policies, procedures, and goals for effective administration, direction, management, and operation of the section. Maintain constant coordination between workgroups inside and outside of the unit, because complexity, cost, and uniqueness of the work involved require considerable planning and coordination. Establish and implement Customer Service Center (Help Desk) to receive trouble calls and complaints from all supported customers. Prepare and submit budget estimates and revisions for the procurement, installation, and operation/maintenance of equipment and supply items. Ensure formulation of comprehensive training plans for each function and specialty within the section. Ensures drill status guardsmen (DSG) are properly trained and able to perform the telecommunications activities. Monitor and control the expenditure for material and manpower resources in accomplishment of peacetime and wartime mission goals. Exercise continuing responsibility for safety conditions, procedures, and work practices employed within the maintenance community. Perform other duties as assigned.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

THIS POSITION CONDUCTS INFORMATION ASSURANCE FUNCTIONS. THE INCUMBENT SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN CERTIFICATION. CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE OUTLINED IN DOD INSTRUCTION 8570.01-M
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate at least 36 months experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
