This position is located with the Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy (CG-5P), Director, Inspections and Compliance (CG-5PC), under the Deputy Commandant for Operations (DCO) at U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters, Washington, DC.

Duties

This position serves as an Administrative Specialist, managing the overall day-to-day administrative, office, and technical management processes within the Flag/SES level office. The services performed are highly confidential, diverse, often complex, and are time-sensitive to the operations of the organization.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Time-in grade requirement must be met by closing date.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-09 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the federal service.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include:  Experience serving as a senior level administrative assistant for a senior level executive; AND Experience scheduling meetings and travel and addressing schedule conflicts for a senior level executive and/or military personnel; AND Experience managing operational procedures for an office or directorate; AND Experience preparing correspondence for a senior level manager/director's signature. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
