This position is in the Emergency Room Department (ER) at the Shiprock Northern Navajo Medical Center, Shiprock, NM. The purpose of this position is to provide specialized care to individuals who have been affected by Domestic violence; providing physical assessments, documenting injuries,
and developing treatment plans. The incumbent will also assist in providing skilled and comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department.
The position reports to the Supervisory Nurse, ER.
Duties
Designs, implements, coordinates and evaluates the local Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence ( DV/IPV ) program.
Provides basic training sessions for the use of equipment and updates on new issues or trends in the DV/IPV area.
Serves as the subject expert to medical staff, nursing staff, housekeeping and allied health staff relating to the care of victims/survivors;
Prepares, distributes and maintains all Domestic Violence Response Team committee minutes and documents Prepares and submits all required reports to the DVPI program. Ensures DV/IPV benchmarks are met.
Ensures victims and survivors recieve provider care and follow-ups by developing/using a secure database to manage tracking, treatment, counseling recieved.
Assists with patient care in the Emergency Department. Utilizes the nursing process and provides skilled and comprehensive nursing care to patients.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS 11: In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements:
Applicants must have at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or above) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree or master's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of Professional Nursing Experience to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
Experience designing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating a Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence (DV/IVP) program to ensure the program meets client DV/IVP needs and all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Experience in providing training on DV/IVP equipment and issues to health care members. Serves as Subject Matter Expert to properly collect and safeguard forensic evidence.
Experience identifying and evaluating important/potential problems or related concerns relating to patient care; investigating, planning and implementing corrective action; assisting department heads to investigate problems, determining action and prepare problem analysis reports.
Provides comprehensive nursing care to Emergency Department patients. Closely observes patients for conditions requiring emergency measures; recognizes, identifies, and interprets serious clinical situations; Provides appropriate immediate/emergency measures. Provides advanced cardiac, trauma, and pediatric life support.
