You will serve as a LEAD REGIONAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE DISPATCHER (OA) in the Emergency Management Division of COMMANDER, NAVY REGION NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will evaluate emergency and administrative calls to determine type of response required (e.g., fire, police, and medical). You will assess priority based on facts provided by caller to ensure sufficient emergency services are dispatched. You will instruct callers using Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) card sets on how to administer temporary lifesaving procedures until emergency personnel arrive. You will relay essential situational information (e.g., characteristics of locations and routes, additional units responding) to emergency responders to prevent confusion and improve reaction time of responding units.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Operating various systems such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System, radio equipment, trunking radio and talk group systems, Enhanced 911 telephone systems and fire and security alarm systems to respond/communicate to law enforcement, fire, medical, hazmat emergencies; 2) Processing multiple requests (e.g., communicating with emergency caller while communicating with police or fire dispatch) for emergency services simultaneously; 3) Coordinating emergency responses in accordance with inter-agency procedures and installation organizations; and 4) Making workload adjustments to improve services rendered as incidents/emergencies occur.
