The position is located in the Bureau of Global Talent Management, Career Development and Assignments Office, Senior Level Division (GTM/CDS/SL). The Program Coordinator manages complex Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary/Deputy Assistant Secretary (PDAS/DAS) and Chief of Mission (COM) selection programs involving the selection and assignment of Senior Foreign Service (SFS) positions.
Duties
Provides definitive guidance to senior Departmental and GTM leadership on the recruitment, selection, and assignments of the most sensitive and important positions in the Foreign Service.
Develops new policies and processes to address emerging challenges in the transparent advertising and selection of PDAS/DAS positions for the Department.
Develops study plans, goals, and objectives for long range implementation of the program, which may be made more difficult due to conflicting program goals and/or objectives.
Maintains, tracks, and provides up-to-date data pertaining to the movements of Department positions, including Assistant Secretaries, PDAS, and COM.
Advises the Director General (DG) when PDAS and DAS nominations have successfully completed the vetting process and prepare these nominations for Committee consideration.
Requirements

- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience utilizing a variety of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness.
Experience providing management advisory services related to evolving laws and regulations governing senior-level Foreign Service (SFS) assignments
Experience in the nomination and selection process for PDAS/DAS positions.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-14 position.
