About the position: This position will be assigned to the Muroc Lake Golf Course.
Duties
Performs and/or assists other recreation assistants or specialists in the operation and maintenance of golf course recreational facility. Types of duties include but are not limited to the following:
Sets up recreation areas for scheduled activities; records attendance; takes reservations and payment for rounds of golf or tournaments; notifies participants of schedule changes; arranges for equipment, charging them out to participants, and checking them for condition on their return; posts announcements of scheduled activities and answers inquiries about item, place, transportation, or other matters related to actives scheduled; takes inventory of authorized recreation supplies and equipment; and helps with group activities which require more than one staff monitor, performing specifically assigned tasks.
Performs over-the-counter selling of a wide variety of golf merchandise. Sells alcoholic beverages to customers.
Operates cash register, rings up sales, receives monies and make appropriate change, processes credit card sales.
At the end of shift, clears the cash register and turns over cash and supporting documents as instructed.
Places merchandise in bags.
Prices merchandise according to pricing guides and replenish stock as required.
Opens or closes the golf course in compliance with established procedures.
Takes tee time reservations in accordance with established policy.
Occasionally may operate the cash register in the sandbagger grill.
Performs administrative duties.
Pulls out and puts away golf carts.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires applicant to be within age to sell alcohol.
- Shift work may be required including: days, nights, weekends, holidays and down days.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have practical knowledge of recreational activities, rules, and procedures.
Must have experience in administrative office, cash handling or retail sales store work of any kind which demonstrates the ability to perform satisfactorily at the level of the position.
Must be of the appropriate legal age to sell alcoholic beverages.
Must be able to read, speak, and write English.
Must possess skill in dealing with the public.
Must have the ability to operate a cash register and to resolve common arithmetic problems when receiving payment from customers.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
