Duties
As a Lead Health Communications Specialist you will:
-Lead or oversee the development and management of contracts and/or task orders and requests for proposals, review of proposals, and the conduct and quality of work performed; monitors an approval system for clearing and cross-clearing communication and marketing projects, research, and messages.
Provide counsel and expertise to program staff and management officials on communication and marketing principles and methods, and their application and evaluation.
Lead the team in identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees.
Maintain program and administrative reference materials, project files and relevant background documents and make available policies, procedures and written instructions from the supervisor.
Monitor and report on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the supervisor's instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met.
Lead the development, implementation, and management, and evaluation of major national or international communication and marketing programs, projects, and strategies for the lay and professional audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, which must include the following experience: leading the planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of public health communication and marketing programs and campaigns.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to
