The incumbent will independently manage the Medical Center's Beneficiary Travel Program and Patient Funds activities within the Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS). This is an extremely complex position that requires incumbent to have a comprehensive and working knowledge of VA regulations, policies and procedures of all the administrative functions associated with Beneficiary Travel and Patient Funds activities.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Documenting and preparing monthly account synopsis for contracting officials in Acquisition & Material Management Service quarterly to justify yearly ambulance contractual compliance.
Arranging all modes of transportation via air ambulance, commercial air, ambulance, wheel chair, bus and/or independent transports. Corresponds with physician, traveler, and vendor to determine the most dependable and economical mode or transportation.
Planning and providing support services in the following types of VTS program areas: electronic records management; driver and scheduling setup.
Receiving deposits from patients and guardians of patients, direct deposits from Social Security, Institutional Awards and others to both restricted and unrestricted accounts. Receives monies earned from Comp Work Therapy (CWT) and Incentive Therapy (IT) for deposit.
Maintains all consolidated ledger cards and reconciling balances with indicated accounts.
Writing letters furnishing relatives and conservators with accounting of patient's funds or requesting monies for inpatients.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/02/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience GS-5: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: preparing written instructions and a variety of correspondence; performing data entry into an automated system; scheduling appointments and admissions; collecting, compiling, and tracking of data; and ensuring compliance with regulations and procedures.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a 4 year course of study leading to a Bachelor's Degree (Transcript Required). OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. (Transcript Required).
Specialized Experience GS-06: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: preparing written instructions and a variety of correspondence; performing data entry into an automated system; scheduling appointments and admissions; collecting, compiling, and tracking of data and ensuring compliance with regulations and procedures. Must demonstrate thorough knowledge of structure of electronic medical records. Thorough knowledge of various departments with the medical center and the policies and procedures of each unit as they relate to the Veteran Transportation Service Program clinics and patient care.

Physical Requirements: The work requires no special physical demands, but will require some physical effort such as sitting or standing, walking, bending, lifting and stretching.
