The Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center is currently recruiting one (1) Prosthetic Clerk in the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service (P&SAS) in Long Beach, CA. The incumbent serves as the Data Entry/Office Clerk in the Patient Service Section area for the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service.

Duties
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Provide the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures.
Use office automation equipment such as electric typewriter, computer, word processor, facsimile machines, and copiers to communicate with others.
Serve as the primary timekeeper for the service.
Review time and attendance reports for employees and assures reports are correctly entered into VATAS.
Maintain tracking logs, action items and manages administrative suspense items and transaction records.
Receive and refer telephone/email contacts while responding to general inquiries.
Distribute mail, apply postage and determine package requirements.
Prepare reports for excess items to be discontinued, returned of disposed.
Maintain Veterans records regarding issuance of durable medical equipment.
Receive/review and distribute in-coming mail to appropriate personnel.
Provide administrative and clerical support to the P&SAS as needed.
Prepare log for clinic visits to adapt team coverage as required.
Track delivery of items for surgical procedures to prevent clinic cancelations and alerts clinical partners of any issues that might affect access to care.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/15/2024.Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Specialized Experience: In addition to meeting time in grade, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Perform timekeeper duties.
Utilize Microsoft applications, VISTA, CPRS, etc.) in order to Input and extract data.
General understanding of Medicare device codes (HCPCS codes).
Utilize medical terminology.
Performing administrative duties.
Provide customer service to Prosthetic Clients.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above high school (transcript required).

Physical Requirements: Some walking is involved in collecting the documentation/data that needs to be recorded. Some lifting and stretching is required when obtaining stock Items, files, documents, printer paper, and other Items. The greatest portion of this position is repetitive typing on a computer keyboard, and glare from the computer monitor. Incumbent when needed may be required to change Ink cartridges in his /her printer, adding paper to the copier machine. Incumbent may be required to lift packages weighing up to 25 pounds and not to exceed 50 without assistance.
