This position is located at Departmental Offices, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Management. As the Senior Advisor To The Assistant Secretary for Management, you will serve as a recognized authority in numerous program areas, responsible for simultaneously accomplishing multiple, major analytical studies, projects or key programs related to the oversight of Treasury wide operations, often serving as a key catalyst to drive projects to completion.
Duties
As the Senior Advisor To The Assistant Secretary for Management, you will:
- Provide authoritative advice to the Assistant Secretary (Management) and Chief Financial Officer (ASM) on issues relating to the short- and long-range objectives of the ASM organizations.
- Identify concerns and make substantive recommendations for improvement in programs, changes to program objectives, operations, and resources.
- Track progress of programs including performance metrics, resolve problem issues, assure completion of assignments in keeping with the ASM's guidance and present the views and opinions of the ASM on administrative management and office policy issues.
- Speak for and act for the ASM at meetings and conferences that involve other Treasury organizations, Federal departments and agencies, the executive office of the President, and other parties.
- Provide leadership, direction and oversight to departmental executives and managers in the creation of action plans and schedules for all phases of project accomplishments.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-15: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as providing leadership in the analysis and evaluation of programs and operations and facilitating change creating action plans and leading projects or programs. Examples of such experience may include:
- Tracking program metrics and management issues, analyzing, evaluating and implementing mission and management-oriented programs; OR
- Providing leadership and oversight to departmental executives and senior leadership in creating and managing projects and discreet tasks; OR
- Initiating meetings and conferences, providing information, guidance and advice on matters affecting present and future organizational programs resulting in the formulation of new or revised administrative and management policies; OR
- Providing consistent, reliable, and needed guidance to executives and senior staff in making day-to-day decisions, as well as decisions affecting wide policy areas
TIME-IN-GRADE: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.
TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
