You will serve as a Technician in the Energetics Manufacturing Department Deputy of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-02 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-05 thru GS-08. The NT-03 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-09 and GS-10.

Duties

You will perform manufacturing processes. You will inspect product to ensure it meets specification and drawing requirements. You will assist with writing and validating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). You will work with engineers and other technicians in using qualitative and quantitative techniques to solve manufacturing problems. You will assist with developing new tooling, fixtures and equipment enhancements to improve the manufacturing process. You will maintain product quality, equipment, tools, workstations, and a safe work area. You will ensure that building is compliant with all safety requirements. You will support a manufacturing organization. You will be required to report to the duty location advertised in the announcement on a regular and reoccurring basis. Occasional telework options may be available.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For the NT-03: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-02 (GS-05 through GS-08) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting manufacturing operations or evaluation to provide quality control and resolve operational or manufacturing problems for an organization. For the NT-02: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-01 (GS-01 through GS-04) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: reading and interpreting technical specifications to perform technical engineering work for an organization. FOR THE NT-02:

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.

OR

A combination of experience and post high school education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
