About the Position: This position is a GS-12 Contract Specialist with Mission Installation Contracting Command (MICC) located at Fort Novosel, AL. Incumbent is responsible for the full range of contracting functions.

Duties

Serve as a senior Contract Specialist responsible for the full range of contract functions. Perform pre-award contracting functions using fixed-price, cost reimbursement, or a combination of contract methods/types to procure a variety of supplies and services. Develop procurement plans by reviewing previous history, market conditions, and specifications or technical data packages. Perform post-award functions, to include monitoring contractor performance, negotiating delivery/task orders, processing modifications, and contract closeout. Conduct negotiations during all phases of the procurement process to ensure program requirements are met. Analyze findings contained in audit reports to make and support recommendations.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Position may require certification per Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and its supplements necessary to obtain a Contracting Officer Warrant, authorizing signature and the full range of responsibilities that accompany contracting officer duties.
• Business travel will be up to 15% of the time.
