This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Police Operations Division. As a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER (SERGEANT), you will be you will supervise Police Officers and other Office of Security employees, enforcement of standard operating procedures, Federal and District of Columbia laws. Supervises investigation and documentation of crimes and incidents.
Duties
As a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER (SERGEANT), you will:
Prepare and present work to be performed; articulate work information at roll calls, meetings, etc., Assign work to be executed by BEP Police Officers.
Serve as a Supervisor with the authority to arrest and or delegate arrest. Enforce Federal and DC laws. Conduct preliminary investigation of crimes.
Initiates, reviews and completes quality police reports. Proofread and edit direct reports, incident reports prior to submitting through the Chain of Command.
Manage daily manpower planning, scheduling assignment of work for direct reports and monitor and evaluate personnel performance daily.
Qualifies quarterly with service handgun, shotgun, and submachine gun. CPR Re-certify every two years.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Minimum Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 Years of Age.
AND
Specialized Experience: For the TR-9, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the TR-8/GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Performing as lead while performing law enforcement work in the preservation of the peace; AND
- Leading investigation of crimes; AND
- Experience completing Arrests or apprehensions of violators; AND
- Directing law enforcement responses to emergency situations.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the TR-9, you must have been at the TR-8/GS-7level for 52 weeks.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory. You will be ineligible to occupy this position if at any time you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, unless you received a pardon or your conviction was expunged or set aside.
Complete or have previously completed the Mixed Basic/Uniformed Police Training Programcourse(s) at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA.
