This position is located at US Mint,Protection Directorate- DC FIELD OFFICE. As a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER (FIELD CHIEF OF POLICE), you will direct and manage overall police operations functions and related support services for their assigned facility through subordinate supervisors.

Duties

As a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER (FIELD CHIEF OF POLICE), you will: Direct the protection program to provide the maximum protection of the assigned facility, its contents, and adjacent grounds against theft, assault, sabotage, and espionage. Recommend appropriate location for storage of Mint assets. i.e., gold silver bullion, medals, coins, and coining materials and equipment. Be responsible for the oversight of procedures necessary in the proper collection, preservation, and disposition of evidence and other property held and maintained by the police force. Establish and maintain adequate controls as required by federal regulations by developing systems and techniques to promote fiscal integrity, operational efficiency and program effectiveness. Ensure compliance with CALEA standards in day-to-day operations and will ensure timely issuance and maintenance of required reports and proofs of compliance as identified in CALEA standards, United States Mint directives and operating procedures.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. We must be able to verify this experience in your resume in order for you to receive credit. Specialized Experience: For the TR-14 (GS-14 equivalent) you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the TR-12 (GS-12 equivalent) grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience in police administration, organization, techniques, practices, policies, functions and programs in order to implement policies and direct the management of the overall police operations for an organization; AND Experience coordinating special police operations which includes acting as a liaison with other law enforcement personnel, developing special operation plans for high valued asset movements, and acting on specific threats to a facility or installation; AND Experience ensuring compliance in day to day operations with established security criteria prescribed for interior and exterior protection programs; such as Federal, State, and local laws, internal and external rules, regulations, and directives, police manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), etc. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the TR-14 you must have been at the TR-12 (GS-12 equivalent) level for 52 weeks. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines. This position is designated as emergency essential. The incumbent must be ready and able to deploy as required in support of varied contingencies and under severe and austere conditions. The incumbent may deploy for brief periods during a contingency event. A one year probationary period may be required. A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so. Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel. May be required to File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on. May be required to undergo an income tax verification. Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis, 5 days a week. Work schedules may vary and assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis. May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include equipment belt, body armor, riot gear, etc. All applicants tentatively selected for this testing designated position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and random drug testing while the position is occupied. Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory. You will be ineligible to occupy this position if at any time you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, unless you received a pardon or your conviction was expunged or set aside [Lautenberg Amendment - 18 U.S.C. 922(g) (9)]. Possess a valid state motor vehicle operator's license upon appointment OR within 90days of appointment (as appropriate) and maintain a valid license while you occupy the position. Tattoos/Branding/Intentional Scarring- Full sleeve tattoos are permissible as long as they are not deemed offensive, racist or sexist. Visible tattoos, branding or intentional scarring, or body art on the head, face, neck or scalp are prohibited. Any visible tattoos that are offensive, extremist, indecent, racist or sexist are prohibited. Visible body piercings while on duty and/or in uniform, with the exception of agency approved earrings are prohibited. Complete or have previously completed training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA. * *Please see the Additional Information for continuation of Conditions of Employment.
