About the Position: You will serve as a Construction Control Representative with the Jacksonville District. Independently inspects and reports on all phases of the contract and assures adherence to contract plans, specifications, and acceptable work practices. This position is located in Miramar, Florida.

Duties

Review and recommend amendment or revision of proposed contract plans and specifications to correct inconsistencies, ambiguities and omissions and to insure conformity with overall project requirements and local field conditions. Independently inspects construction materials and all phases of the work in progress from beginning to end of project. Interpret contract plans and specifications to contractor's representatives. Interpret contract plans and specifications to contractor's representatives. Meet unforeseen conditions, correct design deficiencies, improve construction, etc. Collect and prepare material test samples for shipment. Assist engineers in the conduct of performance and acceptance tests of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical installation.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Approximately 25% TDY may be required to other duty locations.
  • Must hold valid state driver's license.
  • Position requires the incumbent to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as: long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, rocky, or slippery surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, climbing, or similar activities.
  • Recurring lifting of light to moderately heavy items weighing less than 50 pounds (i.e., 23 kilograms), such as testing or measuring equipment; and/or regular visits to construction, industrial, marine, or other outdoor sites.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in in the federal service (GS-10). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: CommunicationsConstruction ManagementContract Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).
