About the Position: This position is located within the Office of the Troop Commander, Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Cavazos, Texas. The primary purpose of this position is to independently gather data, comply, assemble, and prepare reports, and makes recommendations consistent with normal practice, using experience in solving problems and handling unusual occurrences, while performing a combination of administrative and clerical work associated with student and training programs.
Duties
Assist and process all service member finance inquiries correctly and promptly for submission to the Finance Liaison.
Review and edit correspondence to ensure proper format, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Establish and maintain a variety of files and records, publications, and regulations.
Research, gather, and consolidate material for a variety of reports.
Serves as the in/out-processing manager ensuring all Soldiers are in/out-processed completely.
Receives visitors and phone calls, accurately and tactfully determines nature of requests and refers to the appropriate person/office.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A favorable National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI), Tier 1 Investigation is required for this position.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) performing clerical and/or administrative tasks such as preparing a variety of correspondence using correct grammar and format, 2) maintaining files and records, 3) utilizing automated systems to generate reports, and 4) receiving customers in person or by telephone to determine nature of request. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Advancement requirement to positions up to GS-05: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
NOTE: To support the Advancement requirement you MUST submit a copy of your latest non-award SF-50/Notification of Personnel Action that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis along with your application/resume package. Failure to do so may affect your rating or consideration for employment.
