You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the NAVY OFFICE OF INFORMATION of CHINFO WASHINGTON DC.

Duties
You will create and edit innovative materials with written, graphical, and or/visual information to stimulate interest for release.
You will conduct research, plan, and coordinate communication activities and events in support of the Department of Navy missions.
You will support media relations activities, including developing and coordinating talking point, disseminating news releases and conducting media training.
You will advise supervisor and appropriate staff on all matters relating to assigned communication activities in a timely manner.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-09
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Creating and editing written, graphical, and/or visual information products for release; Verifying accuracy of content submitted and ensures compliance with recognized style guides, regulations, and policies; AND Identifying emerging trends and public affairs issues and then develops and formulates responses to issues including methods of communication.
OR
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR

OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
GS-07
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Applying common public affairs principles in the completion of assignments that include elements of media operations, social media, community engagement, command information, visual information, communication planning and policy review and public affairs resource management; AND Applying fundamental oral and written communication principles, techniques, and methods sufficient to plan, market, and create write news features, and technical articles.

Successful completion of 1 full year of graduate level education
OR
Successful completion of bachelors degree with superior academic achievement
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience

QUALIFYING EDUCATION:
You are eligible for this appointing authority if you are an individual who: Completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associates, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution.
If you are a veteran who was unable to apply within two years of receiving your degree due to military service obligation, you have as long as six years after degree completion to apply.
