This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration, in Transmission Services (T), Transmission Field Services (TF), Kalispell District (TFK). A successful candidate in the Electrician Foreman I (Maintenance) position will lead the crew in organization of the work and sets the pace while carrying out the instructions of the supervisor while performing journeyman work.

Duties

As an Electrician Foreman I (Maintenace), you will: Assign duties. Explain maintenance jobs to the crew at the time of assignment. Delegates segments of jobs to specific crewmembers. Provides directions as needed while jobs are in progress. Maintain discipline. As crew leader, set the pace and the example for behavior on the job. Encourage appropriate behavior of crewmembers by explaining rules and regulations. Counsels employees to ensure compliance. Enforce Safety Rules. Enforce regulations and insists on safe work practices to minimize risk of injury to employees or damage to equipment. Review and Inspect Work. Monitor jobs in progress to ensure that tasks are being completed correctly and in a timely manner. Work, including documentation of existing conditions, must be accurate and thorough. Responsibility for Quantity and Quality of Specific Tasks. Responsible for efficient performance of the work by the crew with a minimum of wasted effort and material.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Working conditions vary depending on tasks. Most work is performed outside in all weather conditions, but some work is done inside under normal shop conditions. Work is performed around energized equipment, such as switchboards containing critical control circuits where carelessness could cause a serious system disturbance or outage. Work is done in energized Substations at various heights in excess of 100 feet, such as on steel framework, platforms, and ladders adjacent to energized high-voltage equipment. The Electrician Foreman I must frequently work on surfaces that are slippery due to insulating oil or ice. Installing conduit, pulling cable, working in oil circuit breaker (OCB) tanks, etc., involves working in restricted and cramped quarters. Approved respiratory and safety equipment must be worn when oil, acid, and solvent fumes are encountered. Without protective apparel the oil or acid may damage articles of clothing. At times, work may be physically demanding. The work environment will occasionally include high noise levels or exposure to hazardous substances (i.e., mercury, acid, solvents, PCB's, etc.) that could, if precautions are not followed, pose a health risk. Potential exposure to radiation could occur if assigned to work at the WNP2 plant (Ashe and Hanford). Emergencies, critical system conditions, or outage limitations may require that work be system-wide, done at night or under serious time pressures. System priorities may require extended periods of overtime including working weekends and holidays. PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: Incumbents must be physically and mentally able to efficiently perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, without hazard to themselves or others. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Drive two and four-wheel drive vehicles which may include towing various equipment trailers, normally used in substation maintenance and construction. Be able to wear protective apparel such as respirators when required for worker safety. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience.
