Duties

As a Health Communication Specialist, you will: Provide consultation and technical advice in the development and implementation of priorities, strategies, and practices for communicating with various audiences (e.g., general public, underserved populations, and populations at risk). Serve as a liaison between program and other communication staff and with external stakeholders on CDC-INFO program-specific issues. Develop, test, and disseminate science- and audience-based products, tools, and messages to different audiences in appropriate formats related to the delivery of information through CDC's national contact center. Collect data on public health communication and marketing campaigns (e.g., resource allocation, channel usage, campaign outcomes, programs and materials currently in use). Contribute to the efficient and effective management of program resources and administrative processes.

Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level, which must include the following experience: collecting data to inform public health communication and marketing campaigns, programs, and activities. Or Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related in a field directly related to this position. Or Have a combination of experience and education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
