This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA),OFFICE OF DOMESTIC OPERATIONS. This position(s) primary purpose is to serve as a Special Assistant to Deputy Chief of Operations on a range of issues dealing with organizational change, organizational culture, strategic management planning, public speaking, and professional writing.

Duties

As a Special Assistant your typical work assignments may include: As Special Assistant to the DAA, ensures coordination of administrative and managerial policies of DEA and ensures the policies reflect efficient and effective use of time and resources. Provides administrative program direction to various subordinate offices, directors and their staff. The Special Assistant maintains liaison and coordination with operations personnel in Headquarters and in the field. Coordinates and facilitates the flow of information between the Assistant Administrator, subordinate field offices, and Headquarters. Plans and coordinates conferences and official functions to be attended by top management officials, Assistant Special Agents in Charge, Special Agents in Charge, and the Administrator.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of the announcement. If you are qualifying based on education or if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcripts with your application. Applicants applying for the GS-14 grade level must meet the following requirements: Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-13 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following; 1) Coordinating administrative and managerial policies of an agency ensuring the policies reflect efficient and effective use of time and resources; 2) Providing administrative program direction to various subordinate sections, chiefs, their staff; 3) Developing correspondence to senior management that communicates the intent on key issues regarding an agency's mission and operations; and, 4) Representing assigned programs in internal and external communications efforts to ensure that critical programs/projects are properly successfully presented to the proper audiences.
