About the Position: This position is located with the 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Supply & Services Division, Fort Stewart, GA.
Duties
Groups materials according to receiving vouchers and subgroups as necessary.
Verifies items received against shipping documents.
Issues and/or receives a variety of items for individual service members or designated users.
Uses automated materials handling equipment such as mechanized platform lifters, stock selectors, conveyers etc.
Operates electrical, gasoline, or diesel-powered forklift in order to lift loads weighing up to 10,000 pounds.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI/T1) Background Investigation.
- This position requires a pre-employment physical and annual physical thereafter.
- This position may require Temporary Duty Travel up to 10% of the time.
- This position requires incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a forklift license within 6 months of employment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an MATERIALS HANDLER (FLO) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Material Handler tasks which includes: 1) Receiving, storing, selecting, and shipping general/specialized bulk and bin materials/equipment; 2) Using a computer terminal or other electronic device for handling inventories, shipping documents, and information to record receipts, stockage, and issues; 3) Using handcarts, dollies and other manual equipment to move stock. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Lifts and carries items that weight up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds). Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Moderate physical effort is used in operating forklift hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting and stopping the forklift truck and raising, lowering, and tilting loads being moved. Must meet all physical requirements to work in confined areas while reaching/pulling/ placing stocks in storage racks in awkward positions.
Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, draft, or poorly lighted. Outside work will expose the employee to all types of weather conditions. Materials handlers are regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock, or mechanized work areas. Subject to injury while operating forklift or from mechanical conveyor systems. Employee may be required to wear safety equipment, which is often hot and uncomfortable. Must meet all physical requirements to work in confined areas while reaching/pulling/placing stocks in racks in awkward positions.
