About the Position: This position is located at the 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Supply and Services Division, Fort Stewart, GA.

Duties

Exercise technical and administrative supervision over warehousing activities to include receiving, storing, issuing, and staging materials. Direct the work of subordinate employees performing receipt, storage, transshipment, issue, packing, preservation and transportation operations. Approve leave requests, timekeeping records, and other personnel actions. Complete documentation requirements for items received and shipped. Develop accurate and up to date records to identify actions taken during the material handling process. Operate material handling equipment (forklifts) to move material.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The position is a Testing Designated position (TDP) subject to applicant and random drug testing.
  • Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Forklift license within 180 days of employment.
  • A pre-employment physical is required.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Background Investigation.
  • This position incumbent may be called in during off duty hours or may be required to remain on duty for an extended period to support exercises designated by higher authority.
  • Temporary duty travel of 10% may be required.
  • Must obtain and maintain and DOD or installation license required for the type of vehicle operated. Are you willing to meet this requirement?

Organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures in accordance with regulations; and prepare production records, work records and reports. Will approve leave requests, timekeeping records, and other personnel actions. Utilizing automated supply systems, such as Installation Support Module (ISM), and resources such as Fed Log, Supply Discrepancy Report (SDR). Able to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts; operate and maintain forklifts up to 10,000 pounds. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.Ability To Lead or SuperviseDexterity and SafetyKnowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: Work requires to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. They may lift and carry items that weigh up to 8 kilograms (40 pounds). The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Working Conditions: Materials Handler work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Materials handlers are regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. When working in hazardous materials areas, they may be subject to exposure from radiation, toxins, explosive hazards, or chemical fumes. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hardhats, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons. Drives in all types of traffic and weather on public roads and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Drives in heavy traffic and at highway speeds. The forklift operator normally works inside in areas that are sometimes damp and drafty. But occasionally works outside in all kinds of weather. Cuts, bruises, and broken bones may result from shifting loads, toppling stacks, fork lift truck's overturning, falling objects, or accidents with other moving equipment.
