About the Position: This position is located with the Logistic Readiness Center, Supply and Services Division, Fort Stewart, GA 31314.
Duties
Assembles items according to instructions to properly prepare for shipping.
Process documents utilizing automated systems such as GCSS-Army Warehouse Supply to verify the quantity and condition code of items.
Separates items according to condition code for issue or movement.
Completes documentation requirements for items received and shipped.
Operates material handling equipment (forklifts) to move material.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The incumbent must successfully obtain and maintain a Tier 1 security clearance.
- The incumbent must successfully pass a pre-employment and annual physical examination.
- The incumbent may be required to travel (TDY) up to 10% of the time.
- Obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator License within 90 days of appointment and thereafter.
- Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform full common range warehousing duties. I can conduct warehouse inventories accurately and perform screening of inventory received or shipped; Process documents using an automated inventory software system such as GCSS-Army Warehouse Supply verifying the quantity and/or condition of items handled; Issue items from stock and use automated systems to produce documentation for tracking purpose; and capable of safely operating electric, gasoline, or diesel- powered forklift truck; Ability to do the work of a Materials Handler without more than normal supervision. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Work Requires to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Lifts and carries items that weight up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds). Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Moderate physical effort is used in operating forklift hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, and stopping the forklift truck and raising, lowering, and tilting loads being moved. Must meet all physical requirements to work in confined areas while reaching/pulling/ placing stocks in storage racks in awkward positions.
Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, draft, or poorly lighted. Outside work will expose the employee to all types of weather conditions. Materials handlers are regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock, or mechanized work areas. Subject to injury while operating forklift or from mechanical conveyor systems. Employee may be required to wear safety equipment, which is often hot and uncomfortable. Must meet all physical requirements to work in confined areas while reaching/pulling/placing stocks in racks in awkward positions.
