About the Position: The Medical Financial Technician position is located at the US Air Force Academy in the Medical Squadron Command, duty station USAF Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Duties
Establishes procedures to ensure all pay patients and copying charges are identified and billed/collected in a timely manner.
Monitors and tracks all cases and reimbursement, and ensures monies are deposited in appropriate fund cite.
Maintains records to ensure funds are managed within allowable constraints and to ensure there are no violations of public law.
Maintains, reconciles and closes accounts involving a variety of transactions.
Ensures funding codes assigned to employees are accurate in both personnel and payroll systems.
Accomplishes Third Party Collections Notification and provides bills and supporting documentation for cases to legal
Assists new timekeepers with process of acquiring a password and with further training and/or nonrecurring problems.
Responds to customer inquiries concerning accounting transactions and procedures and/or budget policies and processes.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) is required.
- Immunization screening is required.
- One year probationary period may be required.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 1 Certification within 2 years of hire.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with 1) medical insurance billing and coding, 2) researching, examining, and evaluating accounts for budget data and 3) experience with utilizing a variety of budgetary and accounting systems.

Education: Successful completion of a half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Accounting, Finance, Business Management or related field of study. Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
