The Public Affairs Specialist (Web Producer) position is located in the Office of the Deputy Director, Office of Public Affairs (OPA). The OPA provides a wide range of communication services for judges, court staff, and the AO, and serves as the liaison between the Judiciary and the news media. The OPA's core programs are media relations, web and social media services, video production services, and community and educational outreach.
Duties
This position will report to the Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist in the Office of Public Affairs (OPA). The OPA is seeking a self-motivated and experienced Public Affairs Specialist (Web Producer) to join its team. The OPA carries out a public information and communications program with the Federal Judiciary, the media, the public, other branches of government, and organizations and institutions. The incumbent will work as part of the Web Communications Team and support the day-to-day functions and projects associated with the operations of the Judiciary's intranet and internet websites.
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Working with AO program offices to implement web content strategy on internal and external websites.
Developing webpages using Content Management System (CMS) and integrating web usability and accessibility best practices and Section 508 compliance standards.
Updating websites and responding to client inquiries.
Writing and editing web content with an understanding of plain language.
Developing and implementing web information architecture.
Working with project teams on website enhancements.
Working with the OPA digital analytics team to understand user data to inform site changes.
Working with the OPA video team to integrate multimedia on the websites.
Supporting OPA's news media monitoring, social media, and email communications efforts.
Qualifications
Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience must demonstrate experience in ALL areas defined below:
Performing day-to-day web content activities, including writing, editing, reviewing, posting, and promoting content;
Implementing web usability, accessibility, and best practices and standards, including Section 508 requirements;
Creating and modifying web content using a Content Management System (CMS); and
Working with project teams on website enhancements.
Education
This position does not require education to qualify.
