About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency Pacific Market Hawaii Region, Tripler AMC, Dir of RM Information Management located at Tripler Army Medical Center, HI (TAMC).

Duties
Install cables between automation equipment and communication components to outside cable system.
Utilize test equipment such as hand test set, multi-meters, tone testers, and continuity testers to meet repair specifications.
Install different types of cables used for data communications such as coax, Ethernet and fiber optic cables.
Update floor plan drawings using computer assisted applications (AutoCAD or Visio).
Use soldering irons in the installation of wires and cables used for data communication systems.
Replace, modify or adjust cable system components to correct problems or malfunctions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- One year Probationary Period may be required.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) TELECOMMUNICATIONS WORKER ~ without more than normal supervision. Able to perform common Telecommunications Worker tasks including: running wires and cables between automation and communication components; and install and repair communication equipment by using hand tools I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level Telecommunications Worker who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: The work requires frequent bending, stooping, crawling, pulling cables/wires using various hand tools, climbing ladders, working in high places, and working overhead or in stretched, cramped, or awkward positions. Must use manual or portable power tools weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted for extended periods in uncomfortable positions. Occasionally lifts tools weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Working Conditions: The work is generally performed indoors, often in dusty, dirty, or cluttered office areas. The employee is subject to electrical shock and minor cuts, bruises, and contusions from handling cable and equipment and from using power and hand tools.
