About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency Pacific Market Hawaii Region, Tripler AMC, Dir of RM Information Management located at Tripler Army Medical Center, HI (TAMC). Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices.

Duties

Install cables between automation equipment and communication components to outside cable system. Utilize test equipment such as hand test set, multi-meters, tone testers, and continuity testers to meet repair specifications. Install different types of cables used for data communications such as coax, Ethernet and fiber optic cables. Update floor plan drawings using computer assisted applications (AutoCAD or Visio). Use soldering irons in the installation of wires and cables used for data communication systems. Replace, modify or adjust cable system components to correct problems or malfunctions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • One year Probationary Period may be required.

Work involves constant walking, standing, and frequent stooping and bending. Working Conditions: Work areas are often uncomfortably warm and noisy, e.g., noisy kitchen and dishwashing areas. Worker is exposed to the danger of minor cuts, bruises, and burns from equipment. There is danger of slipping on floors, which are wet from daily mopping or where food or beverages have been spilled. Worker is exposed to steam hot water, and extreme hot/cold temperatures.
