This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Enterprise Data and Analytics (OEDA), Policy and Data Analytics Group (PDAG). As a Social Science Research Analyst, GS-0101-14, you will responsible for data programming and analysis, and planning, coordinating, and analyzing data quality and design issues involving CMS programs.

Duties

Serve as a senior health care analyst and technical expert responsible for developing data driven analyses on a wide-range of health care topics. Conduct major analytical studies to support the on-going priorities of the Office of the Administrator, such as understanding the impact of COVID-19 on the beneficiary and provider communities. Write and develop sophisticated computer programs such as using Structured Query Language (SQL), Python, R and/ or SAS languages to analyze a range of Medicare, Medicaid and/ or Marketplace data. Serve as a subject matter expert and lead with responsibility for the development of activities related to data quality assessment and improvement, coordination of overall team efforts and maintaining appropriate lines of communications.

In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: Develop research studies and perform quantitative analysis to evaluate health care programs (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, or Marketplace programs); AND Use database programming languages such as SAS, Structured Query Language (SQL), or Python to manage and analyze large datasets; AND Summarize and interpret analytical findings for presentations, study reports, and issue papers to leadership. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
or
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
