This position is located within Agricultural Research Service, Southeast Area, Stoneville, MS.
In this position you will, be involved in almost all phases of the scientist's study, and has responsibility for selected phases or conducts test applications of scientific and technical theories when the methods, techniques, and procedures are clearly outlined.
Duties
Develops revisions to standard work methods and procedures.
Assembles and installs complex precision instruments and devices.
Plans, installs and calibrates instrumentation for collecting research data.
Assists the research scientist in making accurate research interpretations and drawing accurate conclusions.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.

GS-7
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience using instrumentation for collecting research data related to engineering; and utilizing computer software to assemble or analyze collected data for record keeping.
OR
One full year of graduate education or a master's degree that is directly related to the work of the position. Related degrees may include Engineering, Agricultural engineering, Mechanical engineering, or Industrial engineering.
OR
A combination of education and experience.
GS-8
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-08 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-07 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is included experience maintaining and installing mechanical or electrical equipment; utilizing computer software to assemble and analyze collected engineering data; and troubleshooting equipment.

Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree that is directly related to the work of the position. Related degrees may include Engineering, Agricultural engineering, Mechanical engineering, or Industrial engineering.

A combination of education and experience.
