You will serve as a HEAT TREATER AND TEMPERER in the MRO PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT of FLTREADCEN EAST.
Duties
You will install and perform preventative maintenance on wire rope cooling water systems.
You will identify safety hazards to avoid accidents when performing metal processing assignments.
You will blast metal and nonmetal surfaces according to the degree of corrosion or the type and extent of cleaning or finish desired.
You will determine the work procedures, tooling, equipment, and attachments needed to produce naval propellers.
You will use hardness testing equipment to determine the final strength of heat-treated components.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Heat Treat metals by annealing, hardening, aging, carburizing, case hardening, drawing, normalizing, nitriding, preheating, hydrizing, quenching, stress relieving, and tempering of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys including all types of weldments, machine tool parts, hand tools, cutting tools, dies, gages, rivets, machined and formed parts. 2) Operate and program computer-controlled heat-treating equipment, hydrogen/argon, endothermic, atmospheric, hydrogen fluoride, and vacuum furnaces, gas generators, salt baths, and using heat treating cells with forming equipment. 3) Read and interpret basic prints, schematics, program readouts, and various technical directives.
