You will serve as a HEAT TREATER WORKER in the MRO PRODUCTION of FLTREADCEN EAST.

Duties

You will adjust belt grinders, pulleys, or other equipment used to repair, maintain, or fabricate metal parts and equipment. You will report hazards, malfunctioning equipment, damaged materials, or other situations that may impact work operations or the safety of others. You will coat metal objects with chromium, nickel, cadmium, silver, copper, tin, aluminum, or other metals and alloys to create decorative finishes or to build up surfaces. You will certify the sequential operations performed to meet requirements of the metallic diffusion coating process. You will read temperature gages and observe color changes to determine if adjustments to furnace flames, torches, or electrical heating units are needed.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Reading blueprints, schematics, and technical directives to select trade tools and equipment needed to complete assignments; 2) Assisting with heat treating and cleaning processes to alter metal components; and 3) Observing heat treating work in progress to ensure adherence to safety and good housekeeping rules. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
