Salary: $41 - 48 per hour

You will serve as a CRANE OPERATOR SUPERVISOR I in the TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will plan daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for employees supervised in accordance with standard practices and specials instructions. You will lay out and coordinate the distribution and integration of operations among employees based on established priorities and schedules, production, workload requirements, and availability of resources. You will train subordinates in work methods and procedures, proper use of equipment, safety and sanitary regulations. You will resolve working problems and take corrective actions to overcome delays, equipment breakdowns, customer concerns and shortages of equipment or manpower. You will administer a wide range of personnel matters concerning subordinates including performance ratings, leave requests, disciplinary and commendatory actions, promotions, and etc.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE I have the ability to lead/supervise others who perform common Crane Operator Supervisor trade tasks including 1) Determining manpower, materials, tools, and equipment need to accomplish work; 2) Instructing subordinates on difficult work operations; 3) Mediating informal labor disputes in order to resolve issues; and 4) Maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
