Duties

As a Electrician with the Division of Facilities, Operations and Maintenance, you will: Perform electrician functions including installing, repairing or replacing, modifying, loading, and testing new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls. Troubleshoot problem areas and inspects for defective equipment and faulty wiring. Use and maintain various types of hand and/or power tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines. Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

You will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most positions performing trades, crafts and labor work, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position. The approved job elements for this occupation are listed as follows: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of Electrical Equipment. Trouble Shooting (Electrical). Ability to Use and Maintain Hand Tools (Electrical Work). Technical Practices (Theoretical, precise, artistic).
