Duties
Working as an Electrician with the Office of Research Facilities (ORF), you will:
Work from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals to determine the necessary and proper repairs and/or replacements.
Conduct test of installed equipment for assembly of components and ensure compliance with technical orders, manufacturers' handbooks and local procedures.
Analyze diagnostic test readings and operating conditions and isolate system malfunctions.
Use a wide variety of test equipment including test lamps, multimeters, circuit analyzers, circuit breaker testers, voltage recording meters, meggers, watt meters, ohmmeters, and ammeters.
Maintain bench stock levels of parts, materials, tools, and equipment at prescribed levels.
Work on secondary distribution lines and circuits used to supply distribution panels, switchgears, power and control circuits, electrical intrusion alarm and fire alarm systems; emergency warning systems; cathodic protection systems; high intensity lighting systems; and related equipment.

Qualifications
You will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position.
