Duties

If selected for this position, you will serve as a Human Resources Specialist for the United States Attorney's Office, Northern District of Georgia. The Human Resources Specialist will provide a variety of human resources management services in two or more of the following functional areas: recruitment and placement, position classification, employee relations and performance management, employee benefits, and human resources development. Specific duties will include: Performing position analysis to determine organizational requirements Determining recruitment strategies and posting job announcements Reviewing applications and applying qualification standards Providing advice and assistance on performance management Providing assistance in the administration of benefits program Administering guidance on pay and leave Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.

Qualifications

GS-12: To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service that involved providing comprehensive management advisory and technical services; applying analytical and problem solving methods and techniques; and presenting findings or recommendations related to staffing and recruitment and two or more of the following areas: position classification, employee relations and performance management, employee benefits, and human resources development. Preferred Qualifications While not required, preferred applicants will have experience with delegated examining (DE) and be DE certified by the Office of Personnel Management by passing OPM's Delegated Examining Certification Assessment. Applicants should attach a copy of their certification to their application and note their experience on their resume. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
