About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the National Ground Intelligence Center, Science and Technology Directorate, Emerging and Disruptive Tech Division, Charlottesville, VA 22911.

Duties

Serves as an Artificial Intelligence all-source analyst in the Science and Technological Intelligence Directorate. Knowledge of or experience in researching and analyzing computer science principles and applications, particularly as they apply to artificial intelligence or machine learning. Manages technical projects independently and/or with team members with the goal of answering difficult and complex intelligence problems relating to artificial intelligence in a timely manner. Works collaboratively across Directorates and outside Agencies on multi-faceted projects and assessments. Serves as Center representative to multiple working groups. Routinely communicates complex technical information clearly in writing or verbally to audiences of varying technical background and relays strategic, operational, and tactical impacts to decisionmakers and warfighters. Scientific and technical intelligence analysis requires incumbent to apply knowledge of collected intelligence data, scientific, engineering, or technical principles.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
• In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.

Candidate understands military structure, doctrine, and operations at least at a basic level and is familiar with Intelligence Community roles and responsibilities.
