This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Located at the Letterkenny Munitions Center, General Supply Office.

Duties

Operate petroleum dispensing and a dump vehicle, which have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 to 33,000 pounds to receive, transport and issue petroleum products throughout the Letterkenny Munitions Center (LEMC) area. Operate mechanisms to off load and dump the container, return dumpster to pick up point. Operate truck tractor or truck and full trailer combination. Couple and uncouple the truck tractor and semi-trailer. Operate a flat bottom truck transport Ammunition and Ammunition Peculiar Equipment (APE) and other equipment and supplies to and from storage, machine shops, and operating buildings. Load and unload heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks, dollies, etc. Operate forklifts capable of lifting 4,000 to 55,000 pounds to load and unload trucks and to remove or place APE and other types of equipment to and from location in the operating buildings.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required. CDL is required within 120 days of employment.
  • Required to meet ammunition certification requirements IAW AMC-R 350-4 within one year of employment.
  • Must undergo physical examination and receive favorable results prior to appointment and annually thereafter.

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator (Material Handler/Forklift Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. Operating of vehicles and equipment such as trucks or truck tractors with trailer or semi-trailer from 26,000 to 32,000 pounds; Operate a forklift that is capable of lifting up to 10,000 pounds. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Assignments involve reaching, bending, climbing, turning pulling, moving arms and legs to operate hand and foot controls of the overhead dispensing facility equipment and the dispensing vehicle equipment. Performs moderate lifting and occasionally heavy lifting of items (50lb). Working Conditions: Operator is required to work outside and operates equipment in all types of traffic and weather conditions and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Operates vehicles congested areas and heavy traffic at depot and off depot speeds over complicated road systems.
