Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles Space Force Base is searching a Lead Space System Engineer for the Resilient MEO (Medium Earth Orbit) Missile Warning/Missile Tracking Program (NH-0801-03, GS-12/13 equivalent). Description: Join us in shaping the future of the Space Force's Early Missile Warning Space Systems, safeguarding US interests with the next generation of proliferated infrared detection space systems. We facilitate the swift development of the next-generation Missile Warning/Missile Tracking architecture through streamlined systems engineering practices, ensuring seamless program integration across various vendor baselines. Ideal Candidate: A self-starter with a track record of creative problem-solving, eager to tackle the fast-paced MEO (Medium Earth Orbit) proliferation program for both system and space vehicle engineering. Comfortable embracing calculated risks, passionate about learning and mentoring, with a strong work ethic. Essential skills include complex problem-solving, effective communication, meticulous attention to detail, leadership abilities, and a knack for collaboration, essential for success as a SEIT (Systems Engineering, Integration & Test) lead of the MEO (Medium Earth Orbit) Missile Warning/Missile Tracking program office. Strong Space System Engineering background with experience in Satellite or launch vehicle production, test, and development environments. B.S. in Engineering; M.S. desired. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of processes and procedures related to program management and strategic planning activities needed to execute projects and/or studies within established financial and time constraints. 2. Ability to encourage new ideas and innovations; manage human, financial and information resources strategically and build coalitions to achieve common goals. 3. Skill in working with customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations 4. Ability to persuade others to accept recommendations, work toward an agreement, and negotiate mutually acceptable solutions. 5. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 6. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes. 7. Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • PCS/Relocation funding is available.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret /SCI security clearance.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • This position is eligible for telework 2-4 days a pay period.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications.
  • This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
  • This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution is required.
