Duties

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, Office of the Director, Washington, DC. At the full performance level (GS-14) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Manages timely completion of high profile and complex policy and project taskers from the Director, Deputy Director and Chief of Staff. 2. Conducts complex and difficult special studies for the Chief of Staff and/or Director, Deputy Director to include, but not limited to, those related to regulatory oversight. Drafts and edits briefing papers and presentations on high profile and complex policy and regulatory issues for the Director, Assistant Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and Secretary. Applies extensive knowledge of BSEE program areas, regulations, and statutes in reviews. 3. Assigns tasks to appropriate individuals and organizational units within the bureau. Assignments typically involve resolution of problems or broad policy issues that may require the decision to modify and adapt procedures and to deviate from traditional methods. 4. Serves as liaison between senior management and various program areas to establish priorities and facilitates information and correspondence flow into and out of the Office of the Director. 5. Ensures the timely flow of information and official documents through the Office of the Director. Works with other offices in the Department to facilitate clearance of critical BSEE documents. 6. Provides oversight over high profile projects for agency leadership, ensuring that they are carried out appropriately and in a timely fashion. Conducts independent analysis or reviews complex technical materials produced by subject matter experts in order to provide independent recommendations. 7. Develops and manages high level standard operating procedures, critical internal controls, and other important operational components to ensure smooth and consistent operations within each responsible office. BSEE has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval. Salary Information GS-14: $139,395- $181,216 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the (1) Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying. (1) Specialized Experience To qualify for the GS-14, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) Drafting, editing, reviewing and presenting reports and policy analysis. 2) Collaborating with senior leadership to establish long-range goals, objectives and schedules to meet changes in priorities, program authority, and/or funding; AND 3) Developing, implementing and improving processes and procedures that directly impact an organization. Must meet all.
