Duties
The duties described reflect the full performance level of this position.
Serves as the Security Specialist implementing and maintaining security policy and procedures for all clearance levels in accordance with security directives.
Ensures classified material is properly marked, accounted for, controlled, transmitted, transported, packaged, and safeguarded.
Conducts or otherwise manages SCI/Collateral personnel, information, physical and technical security actions and procedures.
Coordinates and conducts collateral and SCI annual self-inspections.
Official channel for certifying and receiving collateral and SCI visitor clearances/accesses.
Requirements

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- This position is designated Special-Sensitive requiring the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance in accordance with DoD Manual 5200.02
Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-05 for GS-07, GS-07 for GS-09, and GS-09 for GS-11 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience is defined as:
For the GS-07: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume. Specialized experience is defined as experience with security policies and security programs.
For the GS-09: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume. Specialized experience is defined as experience with security policies, security administration, and physical security.
For the GS-11: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume. Specialized experience is defined as experience with escalating difficult and complex information security issues, experience coordinating and monitoring administrative functions and activities for an organization.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Education is substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.
For the GS-07: One full year of graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement (
http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/policy/ApplicationOfStds-04.asp) may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.
For the GS-09: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. If you are using education to substitute for the specialized experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
For the GS-11: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M.
