This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Central Virginia Veterans Healthcare Center, in Environmental Management Service (EMS). The purpose of the position is to participate in the Linen Control Functions of the facility as well as assist with supply and equipment control within the housekeeping department.
Duties
Major Duties and Responsibilities: Performs standardized supply actions such as filling out, posting, filing, controlling, or coding supply documents or transactions using frequently used terminology, forms, or codes. Monitors the paperwork and records associated with receiving, storing, issuing, replenishing, or inventorying commonly used supplies and equipment; as well as securing information regarding the status of supply transactions. Keeps records of linen items to be ordered and updates linen quotas upon approval request from textile supervisor. Receives emergency requests from various telephonic or electronic means from using service and fills the request as needed. Ensures all linen is shipped in a sanitary manner as well as maintains data for the weight of linen being sent out for cleaning. Performs clerical or technical program support for both textile section as well as supplies and equipment in the housekeeping section of the service. Monitors current textiles supply and makes necessary requests to maintain a seven day level on station. Monitors computer programs in order to maintain an appropriate level of textile and scrubs while managing the electronic scrub dispensing units as well as the electronic textile dispensing units installed throughout the facility. Monitors and controls uniform issuing and issuing documentation as assigned by supervisor. Processes supply transactions such as receipt, shipment, and/or adjustment documents. Maintains various supply data files such as receipt files, supply back orders, stock records supply requisitions files for the textile section as well as the housekeeping section.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Work Schedule: Day & Evening Tours to include some weekends and holidays

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/17/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-3 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-2. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of basic or commonly applied rules, procedures, or operations typically requiring limited training and experience. Knowledge of computer systems and personal computer or terminal operation is used for basic entry and retrieval
operations. Knowledge to perform standardized supply actions such as filling out, posting, filing, controlling or coding supply documents or transactions using frequently used terminology, forms or codes. Knowledge to perform monitoring of paperwork and records associated with receiving, storing, issuing, replenishing, and inventorying commonly used supplies and equipment. Ability to maintain and update records.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. The employee may sit comfortably to do the work. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, or small parts. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
