Duties

AsSupervisory Personnel Security Specialist, at the full performance level, you will perform the following duties: Serve as a first-line supervisor exercising a full range of workload planning, work assignment delegation, and supervisory responsibilities. Adjudicate background investigations and determine the suitability, fitness, and security eligibility of individuals for entry or retention in sensitive and non-sensitive positions. Serve as a technical authority in making preliminary and final suitability/fitness and national security eligibility decisions. Train and provide guidance to entry-level personnel and others. Ensure that the appropriate processing and record keeping related to personnel security cases/investigations is followed.

Requirements

  • Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as : Determining the suitability and security eligibility of individuals for entry or retention in sensitive, non-sensitive positions and/or public trust positions; Reviewing security paperwork and database checks for completeness, accuracy, and issue resolution; Making preliminary risked-based determinations that would allow applicants to Entry on Duty while the full background investigation is ongoing; and Managing tracking systems and processes for monitoring individual background investigation caseloads. Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Qualification claims will be subject to verification.
